Then and Now

The photo on top is a photo of me when I was a child and the photo on the bottom is a photo of me now. I think that the photo on the top, of my younger self, shows that I was and am athletic and I like to have fun. I tells a lot about my life story in baseball and different sports. The photo on the bottom of me laughing shows that I enjoy having fun and that I am very energetic and enthusiastic. I think I have matured a lot and become a lot more responsible obviously because of the huge age range. I think that both of these pictures accurately show my personality and the way I am then and now.

Gallery Review

The image is a self portrait of Chuck Close. It is printed on a tapestry. The portrait is in focus on his face but then his neck, ears, and other facial parts that aren't in the center are out of focus. I think the most striking aspect is his facial expression. He looks pensive and in depth. He did this by making the eyes the most prominent focus point to show emotion. The photo makes me feel curious. The techniques of extreme close up, contrasting lighting, focus and dramatic shadows make the photo very interesting. It makes me curious of his life story and life experiences because he is a portrait photographer that cannot recognize faces. I am inspired by this portrait to try and work with more shadows and contrast because I love shooting portraits and I think the way he shoots them and prints them is very interesting and inspirational.
